Filed under: Blue JaysRicky Romero is one of those players who doesn't get as much attention as he probably deserves, simply because of the uniform he wears, but it doesn't appear he'll be leaving Toronto anytime soon.
The left-hander has signed a five-year, $30.1 million contract with the Blue Jays that will cover the 2011-15 seasons and also includes a club option for 2016, the team announced Saturday.
Romero, 25, is in only his second major league season, but he has shown marked improvement over an already solid rookie campaign in going 9-7 with a 3.53 ERA in 23 starts. Though he leads the majors with an impressive 15 wild pitches, Romero's overall control numbers are much better than a year ago, with his walks per nine innings dropping from 4.0 to 3.2 and his strikeouts per nine up from 7.1 to 7.8. Not too long ago we got word of an all new comedy starring James Franco called Ricky Stanicky and now Pajiba says that Peyton Reed (Yes Man) is looking to direct. In the movie, three teens pull a prank up that ends up burning down a house in their neighborhood. To avoid any consequences, they create a fake person to take the blame but 20 years later, the same trio is still using their imaginary scapegoat to get out of other uncomfortable situations in life. What happens when their wives force them to finally setup a meeting with Stanicky? They hire actor (James Franco, not playing himself) to step into the infamous fake friend's shoes.
Reed has had moderate success with The Break-Up and many people have come to love Bring It On (yes, the cheerleading movie with Kirsten Dunst) as a sort of cult classic (The New Beverly in Los Angeles even had a special 10th Anniversary screening not too long ago). However, Yes Man was just a piss poor variation on Liar, Liar which was a bad move for both Reed and Jim Carrey. This could turn out to be pretty funny since I'm sure one of the many problems that arises for Franco's character is that he's suddenly arrested, accosted, and facing persecution/prosecution for all of the things which his employers have blamed Ricky Stanicky. If it sucks then Reed can always blame Ricky Stanicky, too… Right? Let's just hope for the best. Thoughts?

The Emmy Awards are right around the corner and Emmy nominees January Jones, Julianna Margulies, Matthew Morrison and Sofia Vergara along with Ricky Gervais and John Krasinski are the first group of presenters announced for the 62nd Primetime Emmy Awards.
Ricky Gervais has produced proof of his guest spot on Curb Your Enthusiasm's eighth, NYC-based season in the form of a photo that the British comedian can't really tell you too much about. But maybe you, dear reader, can surmise what the subject of Larry and Ricky's awkward dinner party confrontation is.
